Marriages in India can’t be kept confined as a family affair. Unless the whole city gets to know and gets involved – from Shamiyana walah to Band walah and decorator to caterer – Indian wedding isn’t a wedding affair.
Away from all these hullabaloos that usually takes place, girls normally stay busy in developing their own problems; of course related to their wardrobe. And you know what, a rich Indian wedding can never be a fascinating event without the decked up doll. Yeah, I am talking about the bridesmaid. (Shhhhhhh), you are right.
And yet, unlike other bridesmaids, I ain’t got confused at all. In fact, I planned well in advance to sort all my wardrobe woes with designer outfit collection. Why not the collection? There is Engagement, Sangeet, Cocktail Party, DJ Night, and finally, the big wedding day. Each event needs me to be no less than a diva. Especially when I know that after the wedding couple, the bridesmaid is the one under everyone’s green eyes, why shouldn’t you be the showstopper?
After many readers requesting me to post a wedding lookbook, I have come with some amazing silhouettes that will be perfecting your look at a princess of the day. So, should you start the process of queening right here with outfits that turn every head and fashion accessories that struck people in their head? *Wink* Wink*.
Outfit ideas for bride’s bestie
Straight Brocade Suit:
“Black Never Fails”, bygone are the days when girls used to wear only pink or glittery embellished clothes. Black is the color of the season- winters and “Shaadi Saga!”. So, I picked out for you all a beautiful black brocade suit. I styled it with solid cream churidaar and plain dupatta, which had black-mirror border. I tried to find a look that was simple yet classy for the engagement functions. Also, this is one of my favorite look out of all.
- Accessorize this look with a golden kada, just like I did. Since the engagement look need not be too much of “glammed up” yet stylish.
- For the footwears you can try out kolhapuris or if you want to add a few inches, try out block heels
- To add the glitter of the wedding aura, wear jhumkis and avoid any neck piece.
Anarkalis:
A very simple, traditional and comfortable look. There are a variety of patterns in anarkalis that are in vogue and can be styled in a number of ways. So, for the colorful sangeet night, I chose a vibrant white anarkali with pink dupatta and border.
- To let the look shine bright, go for bright pink lips and subtle makeup
- Do not forget the chandbalis or jhumkis, accessories that are very important when it comes to glam it like a diva!
- For the footwear, I would say – it’s time for some heels up!
- Or tag along with a long traditional jacket or a poncho instead of a dupatta. The perfect sangeet look, I say!
Saree:
When it comes to designer saree for the wedding, there is nothing official about either traditional or mainstream. Something is very unique about Indian sarees, which instantly bequeaths with uncanny beauty. Sare one should call it old school. Our Bollywood divas have stormed the wedding scenes adoring astonishing sarees. Cocktail parties and pre-wedding get together is the perfect time to slip in one sparkling eye around.
- Must pair with a designer hairstyle with a bow flowing out only a flick of hair.
- Do pair saree with a clutch only instead of big, fat handbag
- Match the jewelry with the hues of the saree and ornamentalize diamond studded necklace
- Just a little splash of foundation and eyeliner would suffice for the occasion
Palazzo:
Be it a simple Mehendi night, or “Tilak”- these are some very basic functions but requires the least glitter. People from the family are only ones invited,. But hey! Did I say you do not dress up? When the name is “wedding” it redirects you to style it like a celeb. So, I find palazzo and long kurta the perfect match for the event. I chose a red solid kurta, one that attracts eyes automatically.
- To glamorize the look, wear a heavy neck piece. Try out oxidized jewelry for the perfect look
- Dupatta or no dupatta- the choice is all yours!
- Half tie your hair and go nude or pinkish on your makeup
- For the footwears wear juttis and carry a glitter potli for the stand out look
