Appropriately described in this song of ‘Lamhe’, Indian wear with all its antics lends you an unbeatable charm that will easily steal the sleep of all concerned.
Most of us love to sport an Indian attire for elaborate ceremonies and functions. But we also shy away from it on a regular day-to-day basis owing to it’s “Heaviness”. Agreed some of the Indian pieces from our wardrobe are not fit for a casual wear, but most of them can be worn regularly. The trick is to keep it Chic and simple.
Here let me cite an example for you guys, from my personal wardrobe.
The Desi Chic
For an OOTD of my Lookbook Edition of March, I opted for a Punjabi Salwar Suit from my wedding trousseau. The trousseau piece easily transitioned into a semi-casual ensemble, when paired with simple accessorize and minimalistic makeup.
Agreed the look isn’t super casual, but it is a perfect look for days when you want to make a statement while keeping it casual. The point is to have a good look at the Indian wear sitting in your wardrobe and thinking how you could use it without an occasion.
The answer is simple as it can be, go minimalistic. Let’s say you have a suit with heavy dupatta, switch the dupatta. If both Kurta and Salwar are jazzy switch them with a simpler counterpart. The trick that I have used with this outfit is to tone down the attire a bit by using my simple dupatta.

The Dupatta can make all the difference
One important key to uplift or sober up a Salwar suit is its Dupatta. If you have a simple Kurta a heavy dupatta can enhance the whole ensemble or a simpler dupatta over a heavy kurta can tone down the overall look. It is important to understand that the way you drape your dupatta can make or break your garment.
